Meet Jessica Scott
How long have you been working with ZMS?
Since March 2019 (almost 1.5 years)
How would you describe what you do and how you approach it?
I’m in Advertising Operations, which is an operational role at the cross-section of Sales and Tech. Our role is to ensure brand commitments are not only met but exceeded to ensure repeat business and revenue growth. When brands run ad campaigns on Zalando, Ad Ops stewards the campaigns to make sure the brand’s investment is spent in the best possible way, optimizing as we go. Our ad servers are proprietary systems and so we also work closely with Ad Tech on new product rollouts, testing, and UI feature enhancements to streamline our work. We want to make sure the machines work for us, and not the other way around! We also focus on cross-functional communication and relationship building. We’re in the data-driven digital media industry, but we can never forget that media will always be a people business and relationships matter
Where do you feel you can have the most impact?
Zalando and ZMS are both incredibly dynamic and ever-changing, and there’s a need for superstars across the business. So, it’s less about finding an area where you can have an impact, and more about discovering a problem you’re passionate about and then getting to work solving it. We constantly need innovation and improvement, and therefore, there are always impactful projects that can be picked up.
What makes your department special?
Diversity. We have two Germans on the team, and the rest of us are from the US, Italy, Brazil, Turkey, India, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and Cairo/Canada. We each bring our own international flair to the table and it makes for a fun work environment.
How has ZMS enabled you to grow?
On a personal level, ZMS has made me feel a lot more comfortable living in Berlin as an American Expat because I didn’t know anyone when I moved here two years ago and I’ve been lucky to find some good friends at the company.
What surprised you since joining ZMS?
While there’s been a lot of new hires in the past 2 years, it’s encouraging to see ZMS recognize people who’ve been with the company for 5 to 10 or more years. I envision myself growing with ZMS, and it’s nice seeing others do the same.
What’s your birthday wish for ZMS?
That the business achieves it’s 5-year plan, what else? 🙂
